“Coaching By G is a private owned fitness studio located in Oak Park, Illinois. The owner, Giulia Isetti, is not reluctant to let you know the truth. Honesty and truth are extremely important. As humans we have to believe and accept what is true but also what is false. Aristotle once said, “To say of what is, or of what is not that it is not, is true.” More lightly put, the world provides two things, what is and what’s not. Thus the truth and falsity. I believe this quote is embedded in her personality and this makes her an even better fitness coach.
Giulia Isetti’s studio is a combination of blue and orange colors as well as a combination of clients from the age of 10 to 83. Her clients are all different types of athletes. Rowers, hockey players, volleyball players, swimmers, runners, soccer players, baseball players, basketball players, field hockey players, and people just looking to strengthen their bodies. These clients provide a sense of community and kindness. Her dogs also help to provide these ideals. Her two dogs, Roadie and Lili accompany Giulia to work. They greet you with a friendly smile and tail wags as you walk through the door and they defend the studio from squirrels and other riff-raff at all costs.
Giulia believes that if you’re not willing to put in the work, her studio is not right for you. As people, we tend to complain about a lot of things, but in Giulia’s studio, you don’t complain about the things you’re not willing to change. You control the things that you can and accept the things you can’t. Before starting to workout at her studio, you have to decide what you want and decide what you are willing to do to achieve it. She encourages you to put your effort towards what you want to achieve, instead of putting it towards complaining. I believe that she encourages her clients to make mistakes. Their mistakes aren’t who they are and you can’t avoid making mistakes. They are inevitable but it is what you learn from your mistakes and how you chose to rise up from your mistakes that makes you who you are. While exercising you are going to make mistakes. You’re going to tell yourself that you are weak, that you can’t do it, and that you aren’t good enough. The best thing about Giulia is that she is right there to help you get back on your feet. To tell you are only as strong as you believe.
Her studio includes many different kinds of equipment. This allows her clients to train every part of their bodies. The different types of equipment include two rowing machines, one bench press, one back hyperextension, one treadmill, one assault bike, one orange rig, one weightlifting platform, one cable and pulley machine, as well as various weights. Giulia will work one on one with you to make sure you know the proper technique for each machine.
Giulia uses an app called True Coach. This is an online training app where she can assign her clients specific workouts to their needs. They can either come into her studio to complete these workouts or go to a local gym. This app also has a feature where Giulia can upload videos of how to correctly complete the exercises. Her clients enter whether or not they completed the workout and they can message Giulia, their coach. They can upload pictures or videos of themselves doing the workout which gives Giulia a better idea of what they are capable of. Her clients can access the app on their phone which makes it very accessible. Giulia updates her client’s workouts every Sunday for the week and is very time consuming. She is very detailed in her workouts which her clients appreciate. This app is a major platform for her business and is very beneficial.
Giulia encourages you but is also hard on you. She pushes you to challenge yourself and make good decisions when it comes to your life. My favorite saying of Giulia’s is, “You are building the body that you will have for your entire life.” This means in order to have a longer fulfilling life, you have to maintain a healthy body. Eat proper food that provides you with the energy to grow strong, make good decisions when it comes to your body, and maintain great sleep. She never lets you forget this important greeting card message. When you walk through the door you are greeted with a smile by Giulia and as you walk out the door you are waved goodbye as well as having the feeling of soreness all through your body.
