“2020 marks a new beginning for me. I’m enthusiastically joining Body By G and I’m all in. I’m working at the studio a number of hours here and there, wherever and whenever G. needs a boost or a helping hand. At the same time, I’m jumping in as a training client, getting my body into a new sort of shape and strength–of all the fitness and health and sport I’ve engaged in throughout my life, I haven’t had much (if any) coaching on weightlifting specifically, and I’ve never had the ongoing support of a training coach. What better way to learn the forms that I’d like to be able to help the clients at the gym with than by making myself vulnerable and taking on this new practice. I’ve also launched a course of study program with ACE Fitness to fulfill a certification for a Personal Trainer. (more…)

“I became a client of Giulia two years ago. I was planning a long, cross country bike ride and my wife was convinced that I would die on some steep ride through the mountains and my answer was to say that I would sign up with a physical trainer to prepare for the ride (five months in the future). It was a bit of a dodge on my part as I had assumed that my years of putting in thousands of miles of riding along with merely riding day by day during the trip would get me into shape as the ride progressed. ““So, why do you run?” That’s a question that I’ve been asked many times during my 50 years of running. “I enjoy it,” “It makes me feel better,” and “Because I can” are some of the stock answers that I’ve used. Those answers are short and to the point but really don’t express why I’ve run over 46,000 miles, including 35+ marathons and ultra-marathons and numerous shorter races. (more…)

“I can’t believe that I’ve known G for almost 9 ½ years. My wife Kathie met G about 11 years ago when G instructed a training class at the YMCA in Oak Park. Kathie then followed her when G opened her Studio on Chicago Avenue. Kathie was so impressed with G that she purchased a training gift certificate for me as a birthday gift a few months later. I had never worked with a personal trainer and honestly thought that her gift was a waste of money. I still remember asking G during my first session if she could just give me a list of exercises that I could do at home. Fortunately, I soon realized the significant value of working with a personal trainer like G. (more…)

“I am in my 9th year as a client of Giulia at Coaching by G and in my 80th year of life. I can tell I’m an “old-timer” in her gym when I compare the cap of my Body by G water bottle with that of most of the other members. Their caps are larger and have a groove in them for their teeth. Mine does not. I would never ask for a new one and deprive myself of the status of being one of Giulia’s oldest “gym rats.” (more…)

“When I first met with Giulia she asked me why I wanted to meet with her, my response was, ”I’m tired of yo-yo dieting, I’m going through menopause, I’ve gained weight, I’m constantly bloated and feel like crap. She stopped me and then asked, “What do you want?” I had to think about that before answering and responded with “I want to be happy, healthy and feel good about my body” She smiled at me and said that it was time to look forward positively and not reflect back on everything that was negative. This sounds so simple but it was a big aha moment for me because it was time to stop beating myself up and embrace all the good stuff in my life. Giulia suggested food I should be eating instead of restrictions, she encouraged me to be kind to myself, listen to my body and appreciate the little things in life.
I changed my eating, began taking a probiotic, stopped taking certain medications and started to exercise differently.
Within a few short weeks I was sleeping better, pooping better, feeling satisfied with food and overall, happier.
In addition to my own journey, Giulia is now working with my 15 yr. old son and he is also finding a new passion for health and exercise.
She is more than just a coach, she is a mentor and I’m grateful to call her friend.” – Beth Kaplan
Gratitude as a Habitual Perspective – Guest Blog by Rachel Fiske
I appreciate Thanksgiving, simply as a day to remember gratitude—always good as a concept, but even better as a practice. Gratitude as a daily practice is mind-expanding and heart-expanding, and research has shown that subjects who practiced daily gratitude had higher rates of cancer recovery than those who didn’t. But sometimes it’s hard to be grateful because it’s unseasonably cold, or because my hair doesn’t look right, or because I’m running late, or all three on the same day, plus… sometimes bad things happen, like divorces and car crashes. Thankfully I didn’t. Everything I needed and wanted to hear, I got at that meeting.
Coach G has helped me start to align my fitness goals with my life. Her way of listening and understanding what you need is what makes training here feel so right.
I’ve gotten back to a routine that I had struggled to get back to all of last year.
I’m thankful for her therapeutic training sessions. Helping me get stronger physically and mentally.” – Mayra Solis

“From the age of 12 and into college I considered myself serious about ballet. I took advanced classes, performed, and taught ballet during college. Then my life went another direction (marriage, jobs, different locations) and sadly, dance was no longer a part of it—90 mph to zero very quickly. But my love for ballet never left me. (more…)

““Aunt Janet! What are you doing here?” exclaimed my young niece when she and her Mom ran into me at the grocery store many years ago. My aversion to grocery shopping is long standing. Vacuuming, laundry, and many other chores do not hold the same level of dread for me as grocery shopping. (more…)
